Sections for some readers

Select blocks in an issue and pick Who sees this, or type / and pick Section: what's in it goes only to readers with a tag or in a segment, or to everyone except them. Everyone you send the issue to still gets it, without the parts that aren't for them.

Notifications

A bell in the sidebar, in a section of its own under Domains and API keys, shows what needs you, like a paused campaign, which MailCheap emails you too, and what happened: an import that finished in the background, a campaign sent to everyone, or an issue under review and then approved.

Who opened and clicked

A sent campaign's report, from the Campaigns page, lists everyone it went to in its Recipients tab: when it reached them, when they opened and clicked it, the links they clicked, and whether it bounced, they marked it as spam or they unsubscribed through it.

Problems marked as you write

The editor puts a dot beside each block that may look broken to your readers. Amber is something to check: a link with no address or to a placeholder like example.com, a name or field that leaves a gap for readers without one, text left from a template like Lorem ipsum, or an HTML block whose tags don't match up. Pick from your tags

Edit tags, in the ⋯ menu of a contact's page or of their row on the Contacts page, lists the tags you've given other contacts under the field, the most used first, each with how many contacts have it.

Buttons in the editor

Type / in the editor and pick Button: type its text right on it, paste the link it opens, and place it on the left, in the center or on the right from the bar above it. Names and fields work in its text and its link.

Contact filters and segments

Contacts has filters next to the search: status, tag, signup date (before a day, after one or between two) and source, like your signup form or an import. The status, tag and source filters say how many contacts have each, and the page's address keeps what you picked.

HTML blocks in the editor

Type / in the editor and pick HTML to add your own HTML to an issue, like a button, a table, a sponsor's banner or a signature. Its code shows in color as you type, and once you're done the block shows what readers get, in your newsletter's email design.

Contact fields in emails

Your contact fields now print in emails the way the first name does: {{plan}} shows each reader's plan, and {{plan|free}} shows free to readers without one. Numbers and dates print the way people write them, like 1,250 and March 3, 2024.

A page for each contact

Click anyone on the Contacts page to open their page: their picture, status, country, inbox and when they subscribed, how many of your emails they got, and the share they opened and clicked.

Your domain, step by step

While a newsletter sends from the shared address, the overview and the send step show a short note with its next step: add a domain, finish verifying it, or send from it once it's verified. From a verified domain, the note opens the newsletter's sender settings with that domain already picked, ready to save.

Spam and dead domains

MailCheap now cleans every newsletter's list in the background, with nothing to turn on. Contacts on known spam domains stop getting issues, and so do contacts whose domain can't receive email: one that no longer exists, or has no mail server, bounces every email sent to it.

Summary emails

With a paid plan, MailCheap emails you a summary every Monday at 8 AM, your time: who joined and who left against the week before, your total, new subscribers over the last 8 weeks, and your latest issue's opens and clicks against your average, with its most clicked link.

Imports in the background

After you pick a CSV, the import shows the first contacts as they'll be in your list, and every column with a few of its values and where it goes, in plain words: Email, First name, Status, Signup date, Tags, a field, or Don't import. Columns it recognized fold away; new fields and the columns it leaves out need a look

A signup form for your site

Form for your site, in your newsletter's settings, gives you a signup form to paste on your own site: a script that shows it in your theme and says what happened in place, or plain HTML that works without JavaScript. As a card, it sits under a headline and a line of text you can write yourself, and it can ask for a fir

Clicks per link

An issue's report lists the links readers clicked, most clicked first: how many contacts clicked each one, every click, and each link's share of everyone who clicked a link.

Pick who gets it

In a campaign's send step, To shows who gets the issue and how many: everyone, or one of your segments out of all your contacts. New segment makes one without leaving the step.

Change a contact's status

In Contacts, each contact's menu, at the end of their row, changes their status: mark an active contact dormant to stop your issues to them for a while, mark a dormant or pending one active, unsubscribe them, or resubscribe someone who unsubscribed.

Segments of your contacts

Contacts shows your segments as cards with their counts: contacts picked by when they last opened or clicked, how many issues they missed in a row, how many emails they opened, when and where they signed up, or their address. Click one to list and export its contacts.

Preview in Gmail on a phone

In a campaign, Preview's Mobile view shows Gmail on an iPhone, with your issue on top of the inbox: its sender, subject and preview text. A fingertip taps its row until you do, then the email opens as in Gmail.

Review checks the email

A campaign goes Write, Review, Send. Review lists the email's own checks: the subject and its length, preview text, content, unsubscribe link, size, postal address, sender and a test sent.
